Origin of Dreamers Non-profit Organization (Taiwan)
Before founding GOMAJI, Alin (Yilin Wu) originally planned to donate part of the profits from his previous venture to a well-known charitable foundation.
Being cautious, Alin applied to join the foundation to observe its operations before making the donation. However, his application was never acknowledged. Frustrated that he could not begin a nonprofit career, he returned to his professional roots as a computer engineer. Instead of donating the funds, he invested them into a new digital enterprise. In 2010, he founded GOMAJI, with the founding principle: “Grow at scale, create positive impact, and help more people.”
Riding the wave of internet adoption and smartphone penetration, GOMAJI grew rapidly. Yet Alin never forgot that the initial capital was originally intended for charitable purposes. He decided to adapt GOMAJI’s successful commercial model to invent a simple path to giving: presenting nonprofit fundraising projects on the GOMAJI website alongside other products, allowing online shoppers to notice and donate effortlessly.
In addition, GOMAJI customers could preset their e-invoices to be donated to the Association. The lottery proceeds from these invoices helped sustain operations, enabling the Association to uphold its unique model of “100% of donations to beneficiaries, zero administrative fees.”
Thus, in 2012, the Dreamers Non-profit Organization (Taiwan) was formally established. As CEO, Alin has led the Association in leveraging digital technology (digital marketing, AI applications, cybersecurity, etc.) to empower micro-scale social welfare organisations, ensuring they can operate sustainably and remain fully focused on supporting vulnerable communities on the front line.
